Since 1989, the Cape Cod Foundation has built a base of professionalism and expertise, linking donors to causes that matter. Our personalized donor services make it easier than ever to contribute to the enhancement of Cape Cod as a place to live, work, and visit. With your help, we support nonprofits that offer essential programs and services, help students attend college, expand the arts and culture, preserve our natural environment, and develop compassionate, effective initiatives that guide our region's policies. Becoming a Community Partner is one of the best investments in your community you can make.
By making a donation to the Community Partners Program, you are supporting the Foundation's work in Civic Leadership, in which we:
- Collect data and research about Cape Cod's greatest challenges and ways to address them
- Work with community leaders on important issues and solutions
- Assemble resources to address community challenges and implement effective solutions
- Encourage greater community involvement and engagement.
You also can contribute to a specific cause. When you make a donation to a specific fund at the Cape Cod Foundation, your gift works hand-in-hand with our deep knowledge of local issues and nonprofits to improve the health of our community through effective, strategic philanthropy. Together with more than 1,000 individual donors and families, we are making our community the best it can be.
More on how your gift works: The Foundation accepts charitable gifts of almost any size or kind, invests the capital, and distributes the income in the form of grants to organizations and programs that match the donor's interests. Donors entrust the Foundation with their charitable dollars but also with their charitable interests, relying on the Foundation to manage their assets wisely and carry out their charitable goals. Many donors say they feel it's like having their own private foundation--without the expense and the administrative hassles.
Grant distributions are made according to the charitable interests and specifications of donors and the emerging needs of the Cape Cod community. Unrestricted donations are pooled to make grants based on need in the arts, education, health and human services, conservation, the environment, and community development. The Foundation's Grant Review Committee reviews requests from the community and recommends grantees to the Board of Directors.
Responsibility for policy and direction is invested in a volunteer Board of Directors. New members are appointed by the Board and by civic and public agencies on Cape Cod. The Foundation's Investment Committee is responsible for setting investment policies and monitoring performance.
The Foundation is also an invaluable resource for the community because it accepts and manages endowment funds on behalf of nonprofit agencies, giving these organizations professional money management services without the usual costs and administrative red tape.
