How does a Cape Cod nonprofit become a micro-energy power plant? The Community Development Partnership in Eastham is adding that unusual feather to its cap by expanding the use of solar power on its affordable housing units.  The combined kilowatts generated by the project will be shared across its entire portfolio and help reduce energy costs for over 50 families.  Click here to read more

Previous Grantmaking Programs

Computers for Kids Fund
This fund was created by five business partners to enhance computer learning in public schools on Cape Cod. The five founding partners are Puritan Clothing of Cape Cod, Hearth n' Kettle Restaurants, Connecting Point Computers, Makkay Broadcasting Group (PIXY 103, Cool 102, 96.3 The Rose), and the Cape Cod Times. In 1999, Communica and the Cape Cod Tech Council joined the Steering Committee. Over the past 4 years, $95,000 has been distributed in grants to local schools. In 2000, approximately $18,000 was awarded in computer equipment and supplies to 40 projects at 33 public schools on the Cape and Islands.

Freshwater Fund
Established by the Aqua Fund of the Tides Foundation, this is a grantmaking program that promotes the protection and restoration of the quality of surface and groundwater and the health of freshwater ecosystems on Cape Cod and Nantucket.

Saltwater Fund
This program was funded by the Horizon Foundation to support grants to programs that assist with the preservation and restoration of saltwater ecosystems on Cape Cod.
